Terms of Service

Last updated: March 5, 2026

Stache is a product of SAS Labs, a brand of SAS Ventures, a trade name of SAS Integrators LLC, a California limited liability company (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

1. Beta Disclaimer

Stache is currently in beta. The service is provided on an as-is, as-available basis. Features may change, break, or be removed without notice. We are actively developing and improving the platform, and your use during this period helps us build a better product.

By using Stache during beta, you acknowledge that the service may contain bugs, errors, and incomplete features. We strongly recommend maintaining your own backups of any data you enter.

2. Acceptance of Terms

By signing in to Stache, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the service.

3. Eligibility & Availability

Stache is currently available to users in the United States only. By using the service, you represent that you are located in the United States and are at least 18 years of age. We may expand availability to additional regions in the future.

4. Description of Service

Stache is a personal and business finance tracking application. It helps you record, categorize, and analyze financial transactions. Stache is not a bank, financial advisor, tax preparation service, or accounting firm. The service is intended for personal record-keeping only.

5. Not Financial Advice

Nothing in Stache constitutes financial, tax, legal, or investment advice. All reports, summaries, and categorizations are for informational purposes only. You should consult qualified professionals for financial, tax, and legal decisions.

6. Your Data

You own all data you enter into Stache. We do not sell, share, or monetize your financial data. You may export your data at any time via Settings. Upon account deletion, your data is retained for 30 days (in case you change your mind), then permanently removed from our systems.

7. Sensitive Data Disclaimer

Stache is designed for financial record-keeping. You are solely responsible for any documents, receipts, or files you upload. We discourage uploading highly sensitive data unrelated to financial record-keeping. We are not responsible for any regulatory obligations related to sensitive data you choose to store in the service.

8. Third-Party Services

Stache integrates with third-party services to provide functionality:

  • Stripe — used to process payments for subscription billing and related transactions. By using paid features of Stache, you authorize Stripe to process payments in accordance with their Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Stache does not store full credit card information. For payment processing, Stache engages Stripe as our payment processor. Stripe processes payments on our behalf and does not use payment data for its own purposes outside of providing these services to us.
  • Plaid— used to connect to your financial institutions. By linking a financial account, you grant Stache and Plaid the right to access account information such as balances, transaction history, and account metadata in accordance with your consent. Your use of Plaid is subject to Plaid's Privacy Policy. When you link financial accounts, Plaid acts as a conduit between your financial institution and Stache; Plaid does not share your credentials with us.
  • Google — authentication (OAuth sign-in)
  • Supabase — data storage and authentication infrastructure
  • Anthropic — AI-powered receipt OCR and statement parsing
  • Vercel — application hosting
  • Cloudflare — DNS and content delivery

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. Stache is not responsible for the actions or policies of third-party providers. You may revoke financial account access at any time through your Stache account settings or by contacting support.

9. AI Processing & Data Training

Stache may use artificial intelligence to process uploaded receipts, documents, or statements in order to extract structured financial information such as merchant names, dates, and amounts. Depending on your device and how you access the service, processing may occur on-device using Apple Intelligence on supported devices or through secure cloud-based AI services. Stache does not use customer data to train AI models. When cloud AI services are used, only the specific document or text necessary for processing is transmitted. Additional details about how AI processing works and how data is handled can be found in the AI Processing & Data Training section of our Privacy Policy.

10. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) use Stache for any unlawful purpose; (b) attempt to access other users' data; (c) interfere with or disrupt the service; (d) reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code; (e) use automated means to access the service beyond normal use.

11. Data Loss Disclaimer

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data (encryption at rest and in transit), we cannot guarantee against data loss. You are responsible for maintaining your own backups. We strongly recommend periodically exporting your data.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL STACHE OR ITS OPERATORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIFTY DOLLARS ($50).

14. Subscription & Payments

Paid subscriptions are billed through Stripe. Subscription-based services may be cancelled at the end of the applicable subscription term. Fees paid for prior use are non-refundable unless otherwise stated. Charges on your statement will appear as “SAS Ventures.” For details on refunds or billing queries, please contact us. Stripe's billing receipts will also contain contact information for dispute resolution.

15. Account Deletion

You may delete your Stache account at any time from the Settings menu. After requesting deletion, your account enters a 30-day grace period during which you may cancel the deletion and restore your account. After the grace period expires, your account and associated data will be removed from active systems. This includes transactions, receipts, uploaded files, account information, and other financial data. Data is removed from backup systems within 30 days thereafter.

When you unlink a Plaid-connected financial account, or when your account is deleted, Stache revokes Plaid access tokens, removes connection credentials, and deletes associated account connection details. If you unlink a financial account but do not delete your Stache account, previously imported transactions will remain in your account for financial recordkeeping, but no new data will be retrieved.

Certain limited records may be retained as required for security, fraud prevention, tax reporting, or legal compliance.

16. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.

17. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes.

18. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of the service shall be resolved through binding arbitration on an individual basis, administered in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You agree to waive the right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

19. Governing Law

These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to the use of the Stache service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of such courts.

20. Security Information

Stache uses industry-standard security practices to protect user data, including encryption, secure infrastructure, and restricted access controls. For additional information about our security practices, please see our Security Overview.
